SMOKE ALARMS - MAKING IT EASY!

Karen Stehr Property - Sunshine Coast's leading Property Manager

As you are probably aware from my previous correspondence, the next couple of years there are major changes for rental properties in regards to smoke alarms.

Jim White Electrical on the Sunshine Coast have provided me with a cost for all property owners to audit property for $44.00 GST inclusive.

The audit will set out what each individual property will require and the associated cost to bring up to the new standards of legislation. Once the audit is completed you can either opt to have it done now or wait until legislation becomes mandatory.

If you wish to proceed with the compliance upgrade, the cost of the $44.00 fee will be deducted from the overall cost.

There are 3 main types of alarms that would be compliant;

1. 240volt hardwired Clipsal firetek photoelectric alarm - $60 each

2. 240volt hardwired Clipsal firetek photoelectric alarm with wireless connection - $120 each

3. 9volt Clipsal firetek alarm with sealed 10 year lithium battery and wireless connectivity - $99 each

EXAMPLE:

Most 4 bedroom single story homes with accessible roof space would require approx 6 - 7 interconnected alarms, at current rates this would cost around $650.00 including GST and installed as no wireless would be required.

Most unit blocks with concrete ceilings will require 9volt wireless interconnected alarms, for a 3 bedroom unit with concrete ceilings the cost would be around $550.00 including GST supplied and installed.

There are many variations to comply especially with two and multi storey houses and units. This is why it may be advantageous to complete an audit so quotes and requirements are accurate.

Jim White Electrical also provide a compliance certificate upon each installation.

If you have any queries at all, please do not hesitate to give me a call or contact;
